Driveway Caulking in Mehlville, MO

Driveway Caulking in Mehlville, MO

We went to a job in Mehlville, MO to complete a house wash, driveway cleaning, and gutter cleaning for a newly bought house for a young couple. There was a massive tree in the backyard so the gutters were packed with debris. The house hadn't been washed in a long time, so there was plenty of dirt, cobwebs, and organic growth all over the siding. The driveway hadn't been pressure washed in at least 10+ years which was the main reason for the call. Upon arrival on the job site, I first noticed how many weeds were growing out of the driveway's expansion joints. When those driveway joints aren't caulked, dirt begins to build up, eventually creating a great home for weeds to start growing. Picking these weeds out is annoying, as they are stuck between two slabs of concrete, making it hard to dig out without scraping your hands. I informed my customer that I offer driveway caulking services as well and it would add tremendous value to his freshly cleaned driveway. I explained how caulking the expansion joints will prevent the weeds from growing back, allow water to flow more efficiently on the concrete, and make your clean driveway look its best. There are many different colors of caulk to choose from to best match the concrete or any concrete sealers that have been applied. On this job, we used a tan caulk and added sand on top to give it the best look possible. It is important to not use the driveway for at least 24 hours to let the caulk fully dry and settle.

In order to do this project most efficiently, I cleaned the gutters out first, followed by pressure washing the driveway, sidewalks, and back patio. By doing these tasks first, any debris that splashes on the house will be cleaned and rinsed off during the house wash process. When pressure washing the driveway, I made sure to blast out as much debris and weeds as possible from the expansion joints, to save me time on cleaning them out by hand. I came back the next day after the concrete had a chance to completely dry, so the caulk would adhere to the concrete the best. Also before filling the caulk in, I rough up the edges of the expansion joints to further increase the effectiveness of the caulk bonding to the concrete. This allows for the best seal so that no water gets in the expansion joints.

The end result was excellent and the customers were beyond thrilled! They were so happy they asked about our gutter guard installation service and will be having us back to install those next spring. One of the benefits of offering a wide variety of services is the chance to continue to help clients in multiple areas of their home's needs. This couple searched for a long time for a house, so when they finally got one, they wanted to make it look its best from the start.
